Greece celebrates four obligatory, official public holidays, August 15th being one of them to recognize the Assumption of the Virgin Mary. Since most of Athens shut down today for the holiday, Rob and I headed to one of the few places that remained open: The Mall. (That’s its official name.) The Mall was far from crowded, and many of the people there also seemed to be displaced non-Greeks. Although most of the stores were closed, the food court, a few kiosks, and a movie theater remained open. (We saw Wolverine in 3-D.) It felt vaguely like the American equivalent of dining at a Chinese restaurant on Christmas Day!
