Delphi

on February 16, 2014

IMG_5362 IMG_5385Rob and I hopped a bus packed with Embassy folks yesterday to visit Delphi, located on a spur of Mount Parnassus. According to myth, Zeus selected the site after using two eagles to determine that it was the center of Grandmother Earth. Delphi became home to the oracle, a site for the worship of Apollo, and the location of the Pythian Games, where every four years starting in 586BC athletes from all over the Greek world competed in a precursor to the Modern Olympics. The weather was perfect, and almond trees were blooming everywhere!
